Page 14: Zechariah 14:9 - "Yahweh will be King over all the earth. In that day Yahweh will be one, and his name one." Does this mean that Yahweh is more than one person? The usage of "one" here certainly does not mean that Yahweh will in that day become three persons in one. We might add that we are not to think that Yahweh has ever been more than one person from this scripture. However, due to Israel's unfaithfulness, and the confusion of worship of Yahweh with the gods of the heathen, Yahweh did appear to be more than one god, and his name had become misrepresented amongst the peoples. Yahweh has been
worshiped in many different vain ways, not only by blending worship of
Yahweh with heathen idolatry, but also through blending of doctrines of men
with Yahweh's commands. (Matthew 15:9; Mark 7:7) Thus who Yahweh is to one
person may not be exactly who Yahweh is to another person, making it appear
that there is more than one Yahweh. We have an example of this in the nominal church systems. To some Yahweh (Jehovah) is Jesus. Others believe that Jesus is his own father. And so it is made to appear that Jesus is a different person, and that he is not one. Paul refers to this in 2 Corinthians 11:4, speaks of those who preach "another Jesus". Earlier, in denouncing the sectarian spirit of the church, he also asked: "Is Christ divided?" (1 Corinthians 1:13) The day will come, however, when everyone will know Yahweh, and there will be no confusion as to who He is, or what his purposes are. (Jeremiah 31:34) Thus, in that day, He will be "one", and His name will be "one".
